Days here are filled with creativity, crocheting, knitting, sewing, soap making, cooking, baking, and preserving. From jams and preserves to dehydrated fruits, herbs, and vegetables, everything is made with care to share the goodness of nature all year round.

Most of what you’ll find here is handmade with passion, attention to detail, and a love for simple living.

 

A Homestead Way of Living

At the heart of My Creative LifeStyle is a homestead-inspired way of life, growing fruits and vegetables, keeping chickens for fresh eggs, and living closer to nature.

Creativity and intentional living guide everything we do.

 

How It All Began

My Creative LifeStyle began with a simple desire, to live more intentionally and creatively.

Growing up on a farm in Lows Creek near Barberton, life was rooted in hard work, fresh air, and the rhythms of nature. My parents were vegetable and fruit farmers, and nothing ever went to waste. Everything was preserved, from bottling to freezing, and this is where my love for preserving and working with natural ingredients truly began. Their cooking style was a beautiful blend of English and German recipes, filling our home with comforting, traditional meals made from scratch.

 

Creativity was always part of my life. From the age of 9, my mother taught me how to crochet with wool, and later my Aunt Ella taught me how to crochet with fine cotton, focusing on tension, detail, and how to read patterns. These early lessons shaped my love for craftsmanship and patience.

Throughout my school years, I continued to develop my skills by taking cooking and sewing classes. In Standard Seven, I even taught my own class how to crochet as part of the curriculum when our teacher didn’t have the skill, a moment that sparked my passion for teaching others.

Later in life, my mother-in-law introduced me to Afrikaans cooking and traditional cuisine, adding yet another layer of depth and flavour to my journey.

 

Today, I carry all of these teachings with me, blending them into my own unique style. Every recipe, every handmade item, and every creative project is a reflection of this rich background of knowledge, tradition, and love for making.

Where We Are Now & Where We’re Going

Today, My Creative LifeStyle continues to grow, with handmade products, expanding creative projects, baking and sewing ranges, and plans to introduce courses to share knowledge and skills.

The vision is to create a trusted space where creativity, learning, and community come together.

Even as it grows, the heart remains the same:
