Blended with butter, garlic, and a touch of cream, this dish delivers a smooth, velvety texture while enhancing the natural flavors of turnips. Perfectly seasoned with salt and black pepper, it pairs beautifully with roasted meats, grilled fish, or hearty vegetarian meals. Easy to prepare and packed with vitamins, this simple yet delicious recipe is a great way to enjoy turnips in a comforting, wholesome way.

Ingredients


4 medium turnips (peeled and cubed)

2 tablespoons butter

2 cloves garlic (minced)

¼ cup milk or heavy cream

¼ teaspoon salt (or to taste)

¼ teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)

Preparation


  1. Place the cubed turnips in a pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook for about 15-20 minutes or until fork-tender. Drain well.

  2. In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant (about 1 minute).

  3. Return the drained turnips to the pot and mash with a potato masher or immersion blender.

  4. AStir in the milk (or cream), salt, and pepper until smooth and well combined.

  5. Garnish with fresh parsley and an extra pat of butter if desired. Enjoy warm!


Serving Suggestion: Pair with roasted meats or grilled fish, or serve as a low-carb alternative to mashed potatoes.
