About the Recipe

Garlic sautéed spinach is a quick, flavorful, and healthy side dish that brings out the best in this nutrient-packed leafy green. With just a few simple ingredients—fresh spinach, garlic, and a touch of olive oil—this recipe transforms spinach into a savory treat that complements a wide variety of meals. The richness of garlic enhances the natural earthiness of the spinach, making it both delicious and nutritious. Perfect for a fast weeknight dinner or as a flavorful addition to any dish, this garlic sautéed spinach is a versatile and wholesome way to enjoy one of nature’s most powerful superfoods.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh spinach (washed and drained)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil (or butter for a richer flavor)

  • 4 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional for a little heat)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional for added freshness)

  • 1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Preparation

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil (or butter) over medium heat until hot.

  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1–2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  3. Gradually add the spinach to the skillet. It will seem like a lot, but spinach wilts down significantly. Stir to coat the spinach in the garlic-infused oil.

  4. Continue sautéing the spinach for 2–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it wilts down completely.

  5. Season with salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using) to taste. If you want an extra burst of flavor, squeeze a little lemon juice over the spinach.

  6. Once the spinach is tender and well-seasoned, remove from heat. If desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before serving.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve as a side dish with grilled chicken, fish, or a pasta dish.

  • Toss with a warm grain salad (like quinoa or farro) for a complete meal.

  • Enjoy as a topping for a toasted sandwich or wrap.
